Sweet Find: Champion Top with Built-In Sports Bra

Champion Seamless Empire Long Top with Built-In Sports BraI was avoiding doing work the other day and stumbled upon Champion’s Seamless Empire Long Top with Built-In Sports Bra and decided to give it a shot.  I am nothing if not a bargain hunter, so when I saw they were on clearance from $36 to $17.99 (actually $14.99 when you add it into your cart!) I just couldn’t resist.  I ordered 2 colors, Shell Pink and Rich Berry both in medium.  I am usually a small in tops/sports bras but I knew from earlier experience with Champion they run a little snug.

I’m not one for looking fussy while working out – I have a fear of not being taken seriously if I look too put together.  Plus, I like to wear looser, free-flowing tops that breath, and a lot of the cute combo tanks/bras out there just aren’t comfortable.  They tend to have a billion straps and usually fit rather snug.  Not to mention they almost all ride up while you are running exposing the belly for all to see.  If I’m on a beach I’m ready to be seen half-naked, but I’m not really up for it while on a run, in all my jiggly glory.

This top looked like it would be loose and comfortable and it also looked like it would fit longer, which I really liked.  I get a bit of thigh-rub irritation on longer runs and am forced to wear compression shorts (the 4″ variety), and the longer-fit in tanks help hide some of the naked feeling that the shorts provoke.

Did it live up to my expectations?  Read on to see, but first here are the official specs from Champion:

“Our seamless empire top is pretty enough to wear anywhere. Yet it also packs power to spare for your medium-impact workouts.

  • Soft ultra-light fabric feels soothing next to your skin.
  • Special fabric technology wicks moisture to keep you cool.

Official Review from Moi:

Tank

Me looking tough in all-pink before a run.

This is definitely the softest and lightest wicking tank that I’ve ever felt, I kinda wish they made full outfits out of this material so I could walk around in wicking jumpsuits all day, everyday.  The specs online said to use it for medium-impact workouts (what does that even mean?), but I felt that it fit snuggly and was more than comfortable and supportive, both at rest and in motion.  However, this might be more of an issue for someone who actually has boobs.

I really enjoyed the loose fit of the empire style and felt a nice breeze while running, without having to show my jiggle to the world.  It’s also one of the most flattering tanks I own, but does show-off a little cleavage which I’m not used to.  I forgot about the low-cut while running and overall had no complaints.

I am a little worried about how it will hold up since it is so soft and thin, if it falls apart (on or off me) in the near future you’ll see my angry post about it.

Overall, I’m thrilled with my purchase and would definitely recommend it.  I’m glad I decided to get 2 colors and just wish they had more options left in stock!
